Easy Spicy Cabbage – Sichuan style

Easy Spicy Cabbage – Sichuan style

Trying to figure out how to eat more cabbage? Perhaps you’ve been recommended to enjoy this vegetable to help regulate estrogen levels? But what to do with this layered, plain, “boring” vegetable?

Add spice!

This recipe works great with regular green cabbage or you can use Chinese cabbage or even mix and match.  The quantity for each ingredient is flexible depending on taste buds and tolerance for spice. This dish goes great with peanut shrimp or chicken strips.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage – thinly sliced

  • Sesame oil

  • 3 garlic cloves

  • 4cm of fresh ginger root – thinly sliced

  • Chili peppers, dried. Fresh jalapeno sliced also works

  • 1/2 tbp rice vinegar

  • 1 tbp soy sauce or tamari sauce

  • 2 green onions, sliced

Directions

  • Shred the cabbage and set aside.

  • Heat up sesame oil in the wok along with the garlic, ginger, chilies and green onions – about 2 minutes.

  • Add cabbage, vinegar and soy sauce. Stir fry for 2-4 minutes depending on size of cabbage slices and desired crunchy texture.

Enjoy!
